Bought in 2004 by Mark Reid and Lucy Bligh, The Bull has undergone some refurbishment to it’s bar, dining room and accommodation.
The Bull is a popular destination for those from near and far. So popular that it has recently received the area award for best pub from CAMRA. There is plenty of comfortable seating in the bar areas and cosy fires for the colder months. The bar has a fabulous roaring fire, historic local photographs, wooden floorboards and an eclectic mix of antique furniture. There is a wonderful menu of traditional pub fayre for example home cooked steak and kidney pudding, fresh cod in beer batter and wild rabbit stew to name but a few. The dining room serves a mouth watering selection of interesting dishes, all home cooked on the premises. The Bull Inn boasts the best Sunday lunch in the area. The main building is centred around an inglenook fireplace which has two gabled salt niches and integral seats. The pub was extended at the beginning and the end of the nineteenth century including the addition of the unusual chinoiserie windows.
The bed and breakfast accomodation (currently under further refurbishment) is of a high standard (4 diamonds) and makes an ideal base for a visit to the local area that includes Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, Great Dixter and Smallhythe Place.
